LIAM O’SHEA, bestseller author of the SciFi saga, Eiloe.
All I knew was pain – a childhood filled with cruelty and villains who used and abused.
I first heard her sweet, angelical voice in the dark of night, when I lay bathed in my own impending death. Seventeen years later, it’s not the nightmare she pulled me out of that haunts me, but the glimpse of Happily Ever After she revealed just before disappearing.
They said she was a figment of my boundless imagination. A wish. A dream. Until I had no choice but to believe them, cherishing my imaginary savior the only way I knew how – in fiction and lore.
But fantasy has a way of transforming reality. When I finally tire of being a citizen of the world, I take an impromptu sabbatical as a professor at a small college on the coast of Maine. And there I see her, the girl with the sea-green eyes and angelic voice.
My world turns upside down. Turns out my girl is for real, and the pull between us is anything but imaginary.
Happily Ever After has a story … and this one is mine.
What a debut novel!
That really should say it all, yet still does not do it justice because it is plain fantastic. It is so heart-warming, romantic and pushes all the right buttons.
The story moved along nicely slower than my preferred fast one but it was never boring or dragging. It moved at the right pace for the story that was being told and that is all that matters in the end.
We are here back into the 2 PoV model going between Eolie and Liam. Both characters were great and I thought that we had access to quite a bit of back story there is still quite a bit to uncover and based on that, I can only assume that more books are coming making it a really exciting series.
I do have a soft spot for Liam, I mean look at the intro he got in the book and for me that was a huge bonding moment and his first lecture or should I say what happened after his first lecture for me was too adorable and funny at the same time.
I really loved him from then on!
I really do not want to expand too much on the details and I always have such a hard time discussing some plot point or another when I write my reviews because I do not want to spoil it for you guys.
What you need to know is that the writing is solid, I really loved Sylvie’s style very much and the story is so so so lovely. I think it is perfect for this time of year when everyone is usually so full of hope and cheer and all the good stuff that makes it magical.
As I am finishing writing this review, I had a quick look on GoodReads and guess what we have a second book already listed there called Apprehension and truth be told I did not read the synopsis so I am not sure if we are having more Eolie and Liam or if we are focusing on other members of Liam’s gang.
Time will tell and I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did.
A paralegal by day and incurable romantic by night, Sylvie is a cross-genre, and she takes Happily Ever After very seriously. The End just isn’t in her vocabulary.
An incorrigible daydreamer, she now feeds her obsession with epilogues by concocting stories in which heroes deal with the happy from the get-go. Ready, or not. And she confesses under oath to loving every minute of it.
Sylvie lives her own Happily Ever After in the beautiful mountains of Les Laurentides in Northern Quebec, alongside her whole set of characters.
